Further Newspapers Grasping at Straws

As we all know, newspapers, among other things, essentially killed themselves by not embracing new media. Now, the (european) publishers want to force into law ridiculous edicts that prove why they failed with new media, that they don't have the fucking slightest clue how it works.

Blogging, as most people will know, consists primarily of summarizing an article, and providing your own brand of analysis on it. Summaries and Snippets are allowed under fair use / fair dealing, along with analyses (*gasp*), but anything more is illegal, (*double gasp*).

Further, in blogging, it is considered poor form, and down right suspicious to not link to a trustworthy news source, where the entire article takes place, and where the newspapers have access to the advertising revenue. The entire blogging industry... so to speak, is based on telling people to read the news papers.

Literally "I found this article interesting. You should go have a look."

It's... rather... confusing... but they have hired two teams of lawyers, one as the plaintiff, and the other as the defendant <<
If you can, you should explain to me what the hell is going on here.
